White Water Rafting on the Ocoee River
Ocoee Rafting company has provided guided whitewater rafting adventures for 31 years. Experience miles of challenging and exciting Class III and IV rapids on one of the country’s premier rivers.

Directions from the cabin:

  1. Leave the neighborhood and turn right onto Watson Gap Road.
  2. Veer right onto New Liberty Road
  3. Turn right onto Hardscrabble Road
  4. Turn right onto Hwy 60 North towards McCaysville.
  5. You are going to stay on hwy 60 for about 8 miles until it gets to McCaysville.
  6. Hwy 60 will turn into hwy 68 right as you pass the intersection of hwy 5 (which has a stoplight).
  7. Stay on hwy 68 for about 3 miles until you see the 64 exit.
  8. Pass the 64 exit and just as you pass the exit you will cross over a bridge, you need to slow down and be looking to the right.
  9. Ocoee Rafting will be the first immediate entrance on the right (there is a green state sign that says Tennessee Dept of Transportation and in behind it on the bank is a sign that says Ocoee Rafting Entrance)
  10. Turn right and keep right up the hill.

Mountain Hiking
The terminus of the Appalachian Trail is in the Ed Jenkins National Recreation Area on Springer Mountain. There are also short trails in the area suitable for beginning hikers or families, such as the Swinging Bridge Trail over the beautiful Toccoa River or the Lake Blue Ridge Loop Trail. Then there are more strenuous trails such as Duncan Ridge, a 60 mile loop of the Appalachian Trail sometimes traveling over 4,000 foot ridge lines.
Blue Ridge Scenic Railroad
The 3 1/2 hour, 26 mile round trip winds along the beautiful Toccoa River in vintage climate controlled or open air railcars. The relaxing ride starts at the historic depot, built in 1905 in downtown Blue Ridge, then stops for a layover in the quaint sister towns of McCaysville, GA and Copperhill, TN where visitors have an hour and a half, plenty of time to eat lunch, shop for unique crafts and antiques, snack on ice cream or explore.

Directions from the cabin:
  1. Leave the neighborhood and turn right onto Watson Gap Road.
  2. Veer right onto New Liberty Road
  3. Turn right onto Hardscrabble Road
  4. Turn left onto Hwy 60 North.
  5. Turn right onto Hwy 515 towards Blue Ridge.
  6. When you reach the traffic light at McDonald's and United Community Bank in Blue Ridge, please turn south (left) on Hwy 76 toward the downtown area.
  7. Turn left at the next traffic light - on West Main Street.
  8. Go approximately one block to parking on West Main Street. The depot will be on the left side of Depot Street.
Mercier Orchard
Over 20 varieties of apples and seasonal fruit including peaches, blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, and locally-grown produce. This is one of the premier stops for visitors to the area. Taste some of the best baked apple bread and fried pies ever made!

Directions from the cabin:
  1. Leave the neighborhood and turn right onto Watson Gap Road.
  2. Veer right onto New Liberty Road
  3. Turn right onto Hardscrabble Road
  4. Turn left onto Hwy 60 North.
  5. Turn right onto Hwy 515 towards Blue Ridge.
  6. Once you start coming into Blue Ridge turn right onto Hwy 5 at the McDonalds.
  7. Stay on Hwy 5 for about 3-4 miles until you see Mercier Orchards on the left.
Chattahoochee National Fish Hatchery, Blue Ridge/Suches, GA
Tour the hatchery and visitor center free of charge from 7:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. daily to learn about the fasinating local natural habitats, fish for trout. Established in 1938 by the U.S. Forest Service, this facility is used to product one million trout per year.
